Biography/Background:

Salman Khan is an Indian film actor, producer and singer. He has starred in over 60 Hindi films. Salman Khan is the eldest child of screenwriter Salim Khan and his first spouse Sushila Charak, who embraced the name Salma. He was born to a Muslim father and Hindu mother on 27 December 1965; Khan was raised in the two beliefs. In 1980, when Salma and Salim divorced,  his Father wedded the actress Helen.

Salman Khan’s Paternal grand-grandparents were Alakozai Pashtuns from Afghanistan. They moved to Indore State; however, Salman Khan, in his biography, expresses that his predecessors had a place with the Akuzai sub-clan of the Yusufzai Pashtuns from Malakand in the Swat valley of NWFP, British India (present-day Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan). Salman Khan won the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor for a special appearance in Kuch Hota Hai (1998) in 1999.
